Custom and Performance Exhausts in Kempton Park

A custom exhaust is built for your vehicle and for what you want from it, whether that's better flow, a different sound or a system that simply lasts. Pipes, silencers and tailpipes are fabricated and TIG welded to fit, in stainless or mild steel.

What a custom exhaust involves

A custom system is fabricated around your vehicle, so you decide what it should be:

  • Material: stainless steel or mild steel.
  • How much of the system: a complete system, or only the section you want changed, such as everything behind the catalytic converter (a “cat-back” system).
  • Layout: how many pipes there are and where the tailpipe exits.
  • Sound: how much silencing the system has, from quiet and close to standard through to a deeper note.

Performance exhausts

A performance exhaust is about flow: smoother bends and the right pipe size for your engine, so exhaust gas leaves with less restriction. It often goes together with a manifold or downpipe upgrade. How much difference it makes depends on the vehicle and what else has been changed, so we talk it through with you rather than promise numbers.

Silencers, resonators and sound

“Silencer” and “muffler” are two names for the same thing: the box that reduces exhaust noise. A resonator is a smaller chamber that cancels particular frequencies, such as the drone you hear at highway speeds. The sound of a system depends on the type and size of the silencers and resonators, and how many are fitted. Tell us what you’re after and we’ll suggest options to suit your vehicle.

Stainless steel or mild steel?

Both are used for exhausts. Mild steel costs less up front. Stainless steel resists rust far better, so it usually lasts much longer, especially on a vehicle that does a lot of kilometres or stands outside. Stainless welds are done with TIG welding for a clean, strong joint.
